Unjustified warranty refusal

Purchased a brand new Volvo T8. Delivered off the back of a transporter direct from manufacturer. First 6 months was great! Then the lacquer starts peeling off the rear alloy wheel... due to covid and the closure of waiting rooms i left it until now to get sorted... took it to my nearest dealer Donalds Volvo in Ipswich... they took photos and said they would send them off to warranty for comment. After 6 weeks of hearing nothing back i chased them up, then after another 2 weeks i chased again! I then started to feel the vibes... not interested in warranty work... phoned again... this time the pictures apparently werent good enough so had to do another 1 hour round trip so they could take more pictures of the wheel. after being home for about 2 hours i get a call - sorry it doesnt fall under warranty as the wheel has been repaired! I pressed the point that i purchased this brand new and am the first owner, it hasnt been repaired and if it has, Volvo must of done it when it came off production... Donalds Volvo said they dont make the decision have to speak to Volvo direct... Phoned direct and explained the situ... again pressed my point that I have not repaired it and its a brand new vehicle and it must of been repaired at the manufacturer if it had been... cant speak to the warranty guys direct who make the decision and customer service cant overide decision of warranty... said she would come back to me... finally after a week i got an email saying apologies but its not a warranty as its definitely a repair and not happened before and they stand by there decision! So i now have a car with the back wheel with lacquer peeling off which is not even 2 years old! Terrible service and company which looks at any way to slip out of a warranty claim. I am taking this further (Trading Standards or similar) as their warranty claims if you are the first owner from new and within 3 years they will rectify any paintwork issues.. so watch this space, its not about the money its the principle.

Well Volvo so much for safety

Well Volvo so much for safety - you are recalling Volvo's built between 2006 to 2018 some 170,000 car as the Front Seatbelt steel cable may fatigue over time. Not very good is it Volvo. Where are your safety standards now?

Chinese garbage

Got my company XC40 T4 Recharge in January. Battery life is 16 miles, petrol mpg is 35. Took to Newcastle upon Tyne dealer to be told that’s the norm, and I had to wait 4 weeks for a software update. In the mean time, had problems switching everything off, the petrol engine was running for 45 mins on the drive. Then the car started by itself, once 3 times on a particular day. Spent 4 weeks in the Sunderland branch getting a software update and 12v battery recondition. Voice recognition has never worked since new, they can’t fix it, neither can Volvo UK Technical Support. Took the car back 7th May, 3 days later, car started misfiring and then cut out. Back to Newcastle branch. Customer service is very poor, they aren’t interested. Causing huge problems with my work, as no replacement car available, despite having 100’s of cars. Chinese ownership is sending Volvo down the pan, despite all the hype and fancy adverts.

Major Software Bug on New Volvos

Currently a major software bug affecting (among other vehicles) the V90, whereby the engine management system incorrectly thinks the battery is too low, and refuses to allow the car to be driven. This has happened several times in the last few months on our five-month-old V90. The Volvo Assist rescue driver who we called out last week to fix it yet again for us said it's now crippling 1000s of newer Volvos. There is now a software update that fixes this, but Volvo should really be (a) formally notifying owners of the issue; (b) offering some form of compensation for selling vehicles that weren't fit for purpose. Just spoke to Volvo Customer Services and they waffled (politely) but didn't really apologise or admit their engineers had messed up. Not a good look for a company of Volvo's reputation.

Their Cars are amazing

Their Cars are amazing, its a great drive and different to driving a BMW or Mercedes both which I have owned. The problem is with their franchise operators and after sales services such as Endeavour group, especially their East London branch. Real cowboys with zero customer experience skills, Avoid at all costs. Its a shame your franchise dealers can let you down with the overall experience. Focus on smaller dealers who have customer care as their priority

Absolutely love my Volvo

Absolutely love my Volvo. So much so that I intentionally opened my laptop, logged in to Trust Pilot and submitting a 5-star review after a mental 1000 km drive. Cheers.

I had a 242DL

I had a 242DL, a 740GL and an S70. But I will never buy another Volvo even if it were the only car company in the world and I had to walk everywhere. They did not honour the warranty on any of my cars.

Volvo can`t even fix there own product

Volvo can`t even fix there own product, bad attitude by Volvo. I bought my V60 Cross Country in July 2018 with 2500 miles ex demo car from Lloyd Volvo Carlisle. soon after it developed a gearbox whine, it went in twice but they could not find the noise, the 3rd time i took them out in the car myself then they heard the noise, said they would order a new gearbox which they did, after a short while the noise came back again, booked in , same old story cant hear the noise so i went out again and got the usual oh yeh it is making a noise, they told me to run it for a while to let it develope, did for a while was getting slightly worse, book in again to get cant hear it, took them out again, same oh i can hear it.they them took it in and decided to fit a turbo, did not fix told them its the gear box, they said it cant be its had one fitted, they then did the balance shafts in the engine, not fixed, they lagged air con pipes not fixed. did full timing check not fixed, they then got engineer from Volvo UK for two days and he said the noise is in the gearbox but they wont fit another because its a characteristic, which plain english means i dont know what it is or how to fix it, i asked them to strip the gearbox but they would not because they dont repair them anymore. they are not trained to do so. Pathetic organisation, i am a fully skilled motor vehicle technician who has stripped ,diagnosed and repaired loads of gearboxes . Top dollar for everything diabolical aftersales no support left with car under warranty and wont fix my car. no more Volvo cars for me

Shambolic

Volvo Chiswick Customer service plus trying to get through to them is shambolic. Trying to order a towbar over a thousand pounds plus a topbox and nobody even bothers to answer the phone or if they do they put you through to another ringing phone that cuts you off. Get more staff or train them properly

TMS Volvo Coventry

TMS Volvo Coventry , a complete waste of time no customer service skills , they can't even be bother to respond when you put your complaint in writing. Drove nearly 2 hours to purchase a car was left waiting not greeted on arrival , Chris , sales guy was aggressive and abrupt and very "off" with no negotiation or customer care skills . This has put me off volvo for life, it what should have been a pleasurable experience after all I was hoping to spend money. Something that seems to escape them. I certainly would never spend my hard earned money in a place with such complacency. Save your time and money , go elsewhere! They are not worth the bother!!
